Meaghan Yolles

Meaghan has loved working with children from a young age, and discovered early in her professional career that there is truly nothing that brings her more joy than a child’s bright smile and curiosity for life. By nature, she is an an enthusiastic and caring person with a passion for being a lifelong learner. Meaghan brings to her teaching an ability to bond with a child, empathizing with them by meeting them where they are at, and further inspiring them to grow in their learning with a thirst for knowledge.

Passion For Teaching

Having worked in classrooms for the past ten years and tutoring on the side, last year Meaghan decided to solely focus on tutoring. After running a successful tutoring practice in New Jersey for the past year, Meaghan is pleased to be back in her hometown of Santa Barbara and get to know local families here. She is familiar and connected with local Santa Barbara schools thanks to connections with prior colleagues, and has experience globally with public, private, charter, parochial, Montessori and home school environments and the unique challenges children can face in these settings.

From a young age, Meaghan began working directly with children as a ballet teacher and babysitter, and then went on to study education at Skidmore College in upstate New York. During college, she was trained by experts in the field of education learning about best-practice teaching strategies and the social-emotional development of the child in the classroom. After college, she went on to work in elementary schools, at an occupational therapy clinic and then given her love and mastery of the language, to Spain to teach in an international and then a Montessori school. Meaghan was then inspired to return to school and earn an AMI Primary Diploma at the Montessori Institute of San Diego followed by a Master of Arts in Education from Loyola University Maryland.

Montessori has been an impactful part of her education, having been a Montessori child herself and the daughter of a Montessorian. During her Montessori training, she was moved by the way Maria Montessori and the Montessori method directly integrates the child’s brain development into the pedagogy within the classroom, and views such high potential within the child. Meaghan continued on to teach in Montessori classrooms both in California and New Jersey, and in her tutoring practice blends both traditional and Montessori methodologies to aid in children’s learning.

Meaghan feels lucky to still hold a strong love of learning that she gained from her education - and aims to share that joy with the children she works with. Outside of the classroom, Meaghan loves to be outdoors, try new restaurants, spend time with friends & family, and most of all, travel the world.
